VCFA MFA WORK. 2010-13
Mary Hanrahan’s MFA studies at the Vermont College of Fine Arts included research on the Abstract Expressionist, Agnes Martin and Conceptual artist, Sol LeWitt, repurposing memorabilia and ephemera, geometry, lines and grids, beekeeping and ancestry. “Calming the chaos” is an important aspect in her artistic and design process. “Makement” was the name of her thesis, and a collision of two words, ‘making and movement.’
Artists who continue to influence her are: Joseph Cornell, Melissa Zinc, Bridget Riley, Agnes Pelton, Sol LeWitt and Eileen Hutton.
